The fruit: The growing season, starting cool and wet and followed by a mild spring and summer, yielded good vine growth, a moderate crop with slow and even, ripening of the fruit. Harvested October 2nd, the fruit showed classic Cabernet characters: cassis, bramble, and tobacco.
The wine: Fermented and macerated on the skins a total of 20 days, the new wine was pressed and racked into french oak barrels, half of them new. Aged 20 months, the wine developed complex characters of Christmas spices, molasses, bramble, tobacco, and fall leaf.
